Veterinary IBC Bin

Sanitary Dust Tight GMP-Compliant, Designed for Safe API Handling & Cross‑Contamination Control

What is a Veterinary IBC Bin

The Veterinary IBC Bin (also known as a veterinary mixing bin, product container, or powder transfer hopper) is a stand‑alone stainless steel container specifically engineered for the pharmaceutical and feed additive industries. It serves as the primary material‑holding vessel throughout the entire powder processing workflow – from raw material storage, dispensing, and blending, to downstream tablet pressing, capsule filling, and packaging.

Unlike fixed tanks or plastic drums, this removable, sealed bin is designed to be used with bin blenders (like our BCV series) and also as a standalone storage/transfer unit. In veterinary applications, it guarantees product integrity, operator safety, and batch traceability – critical factors when handling potent APIs and medicated feed premixes.

Feature of Veterinary IBC Bin

  • GMP/FDA‑Compliant Design
  • Quick‑change coupling allows fast bin replacement.
  • Equipped with high‑quality silicone/PTFE gaskets on inlet and outlet valves, preventing powder leakage and cross‑contamination during transport and mixing.
  • Interior mirror polish (Ra ≤ 0.4 μm) minimises adhesion and facilitates complete discharge
  • electro‑polishing optional for enhanced corrosion resistance.
  • Heavy‑gauge steel shell with reinforced ribs ensures stability under tumbling loads
  • built‑in lifting lugs and forklift pockets for easy handling.
  • Each bin is engraved with a unique serial number; optional RFID tags or barcode labels for integration with your batch management system.
  • Can be manually washed, CIP‑cleaned, or steam‑sterilised (autoclavable options available) without disassembly.

Your Premier Veterinary IBC Bin Manufacturer

API & Excipient Storage & Transfer

Receive and store active ingredients (e.g., amoxicillin, ivermectin, florfenicol) and excipients in a sealed environment.

Safely transport powders from weighing areas to blending suites.

Blending Operations

The bin is the actual mixing vessel used in bin blenders – materials are loaded, blended, and kept inside the same bin, eliminating intermediate transfers.

Tablet / Capsule Production

After blending, the bin directly feeds tablet presses or capsule fillers via docking stations, reducing dust and cross‑batch contamination.

Medicated Feed Premix Manufacturing

Accurately hold premix concentrates and trace minerals; the closed design prevents environmental contamination and ensures content uniformity.

Sampling & QC

Integrated sampling ports allow representative sample collection without opening the bin, preserving sterility and safety.

Working volume typically 60‑80% of total capacity to allow adequate headspace for mixing. Net load depends on powder bulk density (assumed 0.5‑0.8 kg/L).

Choosing the correct bin size is crucial for both mixing efficiency and operational flexibility.

  1. Consider your final batch weight – The bin’s working volume should be 60‑80% of total volume. For example, if your target blend weight is 100 kg with a bulk density of 0.6 kg/L, the required volume = 100 / 0.6 ≈ 167 L. Therefore, a 200‑litre bin (working 120‑160 L) would be suitable.
  2. Match your blender’s capacity – Ensure the bin’s external dimensions and docking interface are compatible with your existing bin blender or lifting station.
  3. Plan for multiple bins – In veterinary manufacturing, you often need dedicated bins for different APIs to prevent cross‑contamination. Standardise on 2‑3 common sizes to reduce inventory complexity.
  4. Future‑proof – Choose a slightly larger bin if you anticipate batch size increases, but never exceed 80% fill to maintain proper mixing action.

Senieer offers a free sizing consultation – just provide your target batch weight, bulk density, and material characteristics, and we will recommend the optimal bin model.

The bin’s sanitary design significantly simplifies cleaning:

  • Smooth interior – No threads, gaps, or welded joints exposed to product; all surfaces are polished to Ra ≤ 0.4 μm.
  • Removable gaskets – Silicone/PTFE seals can be easily taken out for separate cleaning or replacement.
  • CIP compatibility – Options include spray balls and drainage ports for automated cleaning.
  • Steam sterilisation – Autoclavable versions (up to 135°C) available for critical biopharmaceutical applications.

Routine maintenance includes checking seal integrity and inspecting for scratches or dents. Each bin comes with a maintenance log and validation support package.
