What is a Laboratory Bin Blender

A veterinary bin blender is a dry powder blending equipment specially designed for veterinary pharmaceutical and animal health product manufacturing. It adopts advanced 3D rotation technology, different from stirring paddles, avoiding raw materiel heating and broken granules. Bin blender is suitable for heat – sensitive and fragile APIs.

What’s more, this bin blender can be used with different models of transport bins(rang from 300-2000L). It significantly reduces the risk of cross – contamination between different batches of veterinary drugs, meeting GMP standards.

The lab bin blender utilises the same three‑dimensional asymmetric tumbling principle as industrial‑scale bin mixers. The bin rotates and oscillates in multiple axes simultaneously, subjecting the material to three forces:

Convective mixing–bulk movement of powder bed

Shear mixing–layer‑to‑layer sliding that breaks agglomerates

Diffusive mixing–random particle exchange at micro‑scale

This triple‑action mechanism ensures that the coefficient of variation (CV) consistently drops below 5% within a short time, and the blend remains stable against segregation – guaranteeing that your R&D results are directly scalable to production.

The total volume of the bin does not equal the maximum fill volume. To allow sufficient headspace for effective tumbling, we recommend filling only 30%‑80% of the total capacity (optimum around 60%‑70%). For example, a BSL‑20 (20 L total) should be loaded with 6‑16 L of material (approx. 4‑12 kg). If your powder has high density or poor flow, choose a lower fill ratio or a larger bin.

Unlike traditional uniaxial blenders, the Lab Bin Blender generates a non-centripetal, compound movement that continuously changes the gravitational angle of the material bed. This mechanical action induces a “folding” effect—the powder mass is constantly stretched, folded, and relaxed.

For small batches (as low as 1.5L), wall adhesion and dead zones are common issues. Our asymmetric trajectory eliminates stationary zones by dynamically altering the rotational axis. The result is a coefficient of variation (CV) of <5% typically achieved within 3–8 minutes, depending on the formulation. This rapid homogenisation saves precious R&D time and ensures that your lab parameters are mechanically scalable to production-scale asymmetric mixers.
