Salt Tablet Press Machine

Corrosion-resistant contact parts and continuous rotary compression for water softener salt production.

Salt Tablet Press Machine

This rotary salt tablet press compresses suitable salt granules into water softener tablets. Its 29-station turret continuously performs filling, compression, and discharge, while variable-frequency speed control allows operating speed to be adjusted to material behavior and tablet requirements.

Salt-contact components use corrosion-resistant materials to suit the processing environment. A separate electrical cabinet helps reduce direct exposure of electrical components to salt dust.

Transparent protective panels enclose the compression area, allowing operators to observe production while helping limit exposure to external dust, debris, and direct contact. Opening panels provide access for removing salt residues and carrying out routine maintenance, helping keep the compression area clean.

Product Details of Technical Parameters of Salt Tablet Press Machine

Salt production requires attention to prolonged material contact, dust accumulation, and corrosion under damp conditions. Check the materials used in salt-contact components rather than judging suitability by a stainless steel outer cover alone.

This machine uses corrosion-resistant salt-contact components and a separate electrical cabinet. These features address salt-processing conditions more directly than a general-purpose press without suitable provisions. Routine cleaning and control of damp salt deposits remain necessary

Damp material may clump, feed irregularly, or fill the dies unevenly, leading to tablet weight variation. Deposits on punch faces or die surfaces may also cause sticking, uneven tablet surfaces, and more frequent cleaning stops.

Check material moisture, storage conditions, and feeding behavior, including whether the problem changes between batches. Increasing compression force will not resolve clumping or sticking. Restore suitable material conditions using an established process before repeating compression trials.

If moisture falls below the established processing range for the material, insufficient strength or edge chipping may occur. However, dry sodium chloride can be compacted, so cracking or chipping should not automatically be attributed to low moisture.

Compare batches under similar particle-size, tablet-weight, and compression conditions. Test strength after the same storage interval, since sodium chloride tablet strength can change with post-compression storage time and humidity. Record freshly pressed and stored samples separately.

Compression force is only one factor. Unstable filling, changes in material condition, tooling wear, and discharge resistance can also affect tablet quality. Increasing force may not correct these problems.

First check weight consistency, tooling cleanliness, and tablet discharge. Then evaluate force and turret speed. If a lower speed improves quality, investigate whether filling time or dwell time is limiting the process. Change one variable at a time where possible and retain samples for comparison.

Dwell time is the short period during compression when the punches remain near their maximum compression position. It is normally expressed in milliseconds and is not the total time a tablet spends in the machine.

Compression force describes the intensity of compaction, while dwell time describes how long this compression stage lasts. For time-sensitive materials, it helps explain why changing speed can affect tablet strength and integrity even at a similar compression force.

Longer dwell time is not automatically better. Reducing speed to extend dwell time also affects output, so trials should establish operating conditions that meet both quality and production requirements.

A common geometric approximation divides the effective punch head flat length by the turret’s tangential velocity:

Dwell time (ms) = L × 60,000 ÷ (π × D × n)

  • L: Effective punch head flat length along the direction of travel, in mm.
  • D: Turret pitch circle diameter, in mm.
  • n: Turret speed, in rpm.

The head flat length is not the tablet diameter, and the pitch circle diameter is not the turret’s outside diameter.

For illustrative values of L = 18 mm and D = 370 mm, the calculated geometric dwell time is approximately 46.5 ms at 20 rpm and 61.9 ms at 15 rpm.

With the same tooling and turret geometry, reducing speed increases geometric dwell time. Compare the resulting tablet weight, strength, chipping, and output to determine whether the change benefits production.

These assumed dimensions are not confirmed specifications for this machine. Geometric dwell time also does not imply that actual compression force remains perfectly constant throughout that period, and the calculated value alone cannot establish tablet quality.

The enclosure provides a physical barrier around the compression area, helping reduce exposure to external dust, debris, and unnecessary direct contact. Transparent panels allow operators to monitor feeding and tablet formation, while opening panels provide access for cleaning salt deposits and inspecting tooling after shutdown.

The enclosure does not replace a sealed environment or dehumidification system. Material moisture still needs to be managed through appropriate storage and production-room temperature and humidity control. Specific cleanliness requirements also need to be assessed alongside cleaning procedures and site conditions.
